21st Century Tools:


Math:
Students will be using the youtube as an informational source. Students will be using Excel to create graphs and charts which will be embedded onto the class wiki spaces. Through their podcasts students will be able into pose questions to the other team as well as other viewers.

Science:
In Science, students will also use the internet to research about the diseases, medicines, and possibly the materials in the products being made that could have been harmful to the workers at this time as well as research the effects pollution has on the environment.
Social Studies:
In Social Studies, students can use the internet to research how much money a child may have made while working a specific job. They will also use the internet to zero in on specific players (companies, industries, countries) that are/were guilty of employing child labor. Youtube, or podcasts can also be used to search and display images of what living and working conditions exist(ed).

English:

Students will be using podcasts and other popular technological connections including MySpace and Facebook. Students will use MySpace to modernize the life of a struggling member of the working class. Facebook will be used by students to create petitions and groups that might motivate others to get involved in improving working conditions in other countries. Students will use the web to research and share various organizations that support these changes. Moreover, students will use wikis and blogs to reach out to other students and, if possible, other countries with serious working class issues. Students will research their topics by using traditional means, but more importantly tools like blogging, wikis, youtube, and related sites.
